One jail. One courthouse. Both in the city of Madera.
Lucky Bail Bonds writes bail bonds for Madera County families from Fresno. There's no Madera office, and in many cases no trip to Fresno either: the paperwork can be done over the phone and online.

The jail and the courthouse
-
(559) 675-7951, Madera County Jail
Madera County Jail
195 Tozer St., Madera, CA 93638
The county lists office hours of 8 to 5, Monday through Friday, for this line.
-
(559) 416-5599, Madera Superior Court
Madera Superior Court
200 South G Street, Madera, CA 93637
A full-service court: every kind of case is heard here. Clerk's windows are open 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The county calls it both the Madera County Sheriff's Office Jail and the Madera County Jail. Older directories still call it a Department of Corrections. Same jail, older name. These come from the county's jail page and the court's locations page. If either says something different from this page, go by theirs.
Find the person, and the bail
The county's Inmate Inquiry is free. Search by last name, or by booking number if somebody has given you one.
There's also a button marked Recent that lists the newest bookings, no name needed. Useful when you aren't sure how the name is spelled.
The list carries a booking number and an In Custody column, so you can see whether the person is still there. Open a record and the charges are listed one at a time, each with its own bond type and bond amount. More than one line is normal.
If the search comes up empty, the arrest may have been in another county. Fresno County, the next one south, has its own jail guide, and Service areas links the rest.
When the record shows more than one figure
Madera's record lists bail against each charge, set by the county bail schedule or by a judge, so one booking can carry several Bond Amounts. Each one is the bail on that charge. It isn't the price of a bond.
Read every line out when you call an agent, or read out what you can see if the record is confusing. The agent will tell you what the bond would cost before you commit to anything.
Two cities, and the rest
Madera County runs from the valley floor up into the Sierra. Oakhurst and Coarsegold sit on Highway 41, the road to Yosemite's south entrance. Like every community outside Madera and Chowchilla, they're unincorporated, and so is most of the county's map.
Incorporated cities
Madera, Chowchilla
Unincorporated communities include
Ahwahnee, Bass Lake, Berenda, Coarsegold, Fairmead, Madera Ranchos, North Fork, Oakhurst, O'Neals, Raymond, Rolling Hills
None of that changes where a Madera County case goes: the court on G Street hears it, and the county's one jail is on Tozer Street.
Which makes the drive the real question for a family in the mountains.
Visits are video, so seeing them doesn't need the drive
The county runs visitation on video, both at the jail and off-site, seven days a week. Visitors need an account before booking one, and on-site visits are scheduled in the front lobby.
Visitors need photo ID, and the county runs warrant checks
A valid photo identification is required to sign up for a visit, and the county says visitors are subject to warrant checks.
Mail doesn't go to Tozer Street
Letters for someone in custody go to a post office box in Jonesboro, Arkansas, not to the jail's own address. The county publishes the format on its jail page, so use theirs.
No office in Madera. In many cases, no drive.
Lucky writes bail bonds from one office, in Fresno. To start a Madera County bond, give a licensed agent the person's name and the county, by phone or through the contact form. In many cases the paperwork after that can be done over the phone and online, and the agent will tell you what, if anything, has to happen in person.
The bond is then posted at the jail on Tozer Street or filed with the court on G Street, whichever the case needs.
